I Built it Myself

Interlux proudly sponsors the “I Built It Myself” display at the 2010 WoodenBoat Show.

In the March/April 2009 issue of WoodenBoat magazine, we extended an invitation to our readers requesting they bring their home-built boats to the WoodenBoat Show and share their work with other like-minded individuals. The requirements were the boat must not be for sale, and the builder must be willing to talk with interested attendees about their project. We are pleased to say that 50 readers responded and exhibited the boats they built! There was a wide range of designers (Iain Oughtred, Joel White, Arch Davis, William and John Atkin to name a few) and many different types of boats (kayaks, daysailers, skiffs and even 4 Class A utility racers) to offer inspiration.

If you are interested in bringing your home-built boat to the 2010 WoodenBoat Show, please download and submit the official entry form. Please contact if you have any questions.

Entry Rules:

  1. All boats must have a wooden hull.
  2. Boat must NOT be for sale.
  3. We are looking for a fresh fleet of boats. Please do not bring a past IBIM boat.
  4. Boat and builder must attend all three days of the show.

Interlux and The WoodenBoat Show would like to congratulate Fred Rettig, of Mobile, AL, whose boat TENDERNESS won the 2009 I Built It Myself “Best In Show” award given by Interlux.

Represented below are some examples of the boats that participated in 2009.
